Are there any differences between the 2017 and 2018 versions of the X-ADV?
Many enthusiasts of the Honda X-ADV scooter wonder if there are any differences between its first version from 2017 and the 2018 version. Let's not keep you in suspense any longer: the answer is yes. This short article aims to present them to you as simply and reliably as possible.
35kW Limitation for A2 License Holders
Starting in 2018, the scooter is also offered in a restricted version to ensure that new A license holders can still enjoy its many advantages. Of course, it is possible to revert to the original power of 40.3kW when necessary through a dealer operation.
Note: According to Honda's tests, over a 100m standing start, the restricted version achieves the same time as the maximum power version.
A Few More Revs
The redline is extended to 7500 rpm, that's 900 extra rpm, to allow for more freedom in using the power at high revs.
A Well-Known 'G' Option
Emphasizing the off-road nature of the machine, Honda offers the X-ADV a riding mode inherited from the Africa Twin. This mode improves riding by boosting traction and limiting clutch slippage during gear changes.
HSTC Torque Control System
Adjustable to several positions, ranging from more to less intrusive, Honda's traction control (HSTC) makes its appearance on the 2018 X-ADV.
Good to know: the system can also be completely deactivated with a long press.
New "Chromosphere" Red Color
Two new colors appear: "Chromosphere" Red (also found on several other Honda models) and Matte White. Matte and glossy grays remain in the catalog.
